What do we stand for?

Community & Sustainability

We believe that the true measure of a company's success is its relationship with those around it. We are grateful to our community for their support over the years. And whether it is through organizations that we support or by drawing our clients' attention to sustainability issues as they pertain to their businesses, we choose to express our gratitude by giving back.

Genesis School Broadway

A Program of the PLEA Community Services Society of BC — Visit The Red Book

Genesis is a program for students of ages 15-18 years old who are on probation and who have an extended history of non-engagement in school. Student learning is individualized and self-paced within the context of a structured environment. Referrals are made by probation officers.

In keeping with Misams core value of "...always choosing to see the best in people and situations" the Genesis Broadway program is an appropriate medium to give back.

Misam is a proud supporter of the program by channeling used computers that are no longer wanted by businesses who have since upgraded their hardware. The computers are distributed to students who show extra initiative, commitment and effort toward their studies allowing them to build and improve resume writing and job skills. There are two other Genesis schools which means there is always need for equipment and other donations.

The Genesis program is just one of the many programs sponsored or co-sponsored through the PLEA (Positive Learning Experience) Community Services Society of BC. Visit PLEA website for more info.

Self Employment Equity Program

Misam Consulting Systems facilitates a federally funded program designed to assist and guide eligible EI claimants in the pursuit of starting their own businesses. The program involves a 10 week academic portion during which equity participants develop a comprehensive business plan. (eligibility preference given to women, individuals over 40 years old and minorities) This is followed by almost a year of coaching and practical business advice and support. The program is managed by Toward Excellence Consulting and enjoys a success rate of 80% after 3 years.

In House Re-Use & Recycling Policy

The Misam Group follows a comprehensive recycling protocol:

  • All printer paper is re-used where possible, without compromising client confidentiality.
  • All paper that is shredded or otherwise disposed of is recycled
  • Cans bottles and other containers are recycled or donated to organizations requesting them for fundraising efforts
  • All cardboard is recycled
  • Other waste is sorted and where possible, is forwarded to schools and daycares for student art, science and creativity projects.

Other Community Involvement & Event/Organization Sponsorship
